1. When changing a flat, it is best to do so on stable level ground away from traffic.
2. Apply parking brake and chock wheels.
3. Consult vehicle owner’s manual for proper lifting/tire changing procedure.
4. Never place yourself or any part of your body under the vehicle while being raised or supported by a jack or lifting device when changing the tire.
5. Remove the wheel with the failed/flat tire. Align the spare wheel’s five bolt holes to your vehicle’s studs. On the Model Y and Model 3, your spare wheel will have a yellow dot on the front of the wheel. This yellow dot must be lined up with the 10mm hex bolt used to hold the brake rotor in place. Please refer to the supplemental instructions sheet included in your kit.
6. Secure the Value Spare wheel and tire on the vehicle using the OEM lug nuts. Make sure the lug nuts are seated properly, and the wheel is evenly aligned against the hub. Snug them tight to ensure the wheel is aligned.
7. Once the wheel is properly seated and the lugs are snug, lower the vehicle enough for the tire to make contact with the ground, which will prevent the wheel from turning. Once in this position, properly tighten the lug nuts (approximately 100-140 ft-lbs; please check the vehicle owner’s manual to confirm exact specs).
8. On most vehicles, it is advised to turn traction control and active handling off if equipped while driving on the spare.
