Instructions For Tesla Owners

Complete Spare Tire Kit Option

First and foremost, THANK YOU for your purchase of our complete spare tire kit for your vehicle. As fellow car enthusiasts, we have put a great deal of time and energy into delivering a stellar product for your car. In this kit, you will find everything that you need to quickly and efficiently change a flat tire on your vehicle.
Please read entire instructions before using the spare tire kit Including the Vehicle Lifting Guide on pages 2-4:
NOTE – When driving your Tesla with the spare tire mounted, set your traction control system to what is referred to as “Slip Start” mode. To engage Slip Start mode on your control panel, Touch Controls > Driving > Traction Control > Slip Start. Your control panel will indicate Slip Start mode is engaged. Do not use cruise control or Autopilot when in Slip Start mode.
General Steps-
  1. When changing a flat, it is best to do so on stable level ground away from traffic.
  2. Apply the parking brake, it is also our recommendation to chock the vehicle’s wheels.
  3. Remove tire and wheel from carrying case.
  4. Remove kit contents from your vehicle. If your kit contains a carrying case, please remove the tire and wheel from the carrying case. Once the tire and wheel is removed you will find a zipper pocket in the bottom of the case. Open the pocket to remove the lug wrench, scissor jack, and disposable tire bag.
  5. Many vehicles have specific lifting points that must be used to safely lift the vehicle. Prior to raising the vehicle it is very strongly recommended that you consult your owner’s manual for safe lifting procedures. Failure to do so may result in bodily harm, death, or significant damage to the vehicle. Included in these instructions in a separate page is a general guide for lifting Tesla vehicles. This is not to be considered a complete guide but rather a document to bring attention to the specific lifting procedures for Tesla vehicles. As mentioned above, it is strongly recommended that you consult your owner’s manual for complete and safe instructions.
  6. Prior to raising the vehicle, it is suggested to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire that you wish to change. *On some Tesla models, simple plastic lug nut covers may be present. They will need to be removed prior to loosening the lug nuts.* Do not completely remove the lug nuts, only loosen them to where they are still snug. Please align the rubber pad of the scissor jack with the jacking point closest to the tire that you are changing. Please consult the owner’s manual for complete jacking instructions.
  7. Raise the vehicle using the ratcheting scissor jack using safe jacking procedures as found in the owner’s manual. Ensure that the scissor jack is on stable level ground with it properly aligned with the specified jacking point. The ratchet can operate in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction by using a small switch on the side of the ratchet. Once the vehicle is raised or supported by the jack do not place yourself or any part of your body under the vehicle.
  8. Visually check the jack to see that vehicle has been securely lifted. Once confirmed, completely remove the lug nuts and flat tire. Place flat tire in included disposable bag.
  9. On the Model Y and Model 3, your spare wheel will have a yellow dot on the front of the wheel. This yellow dot must be lined up with the 10mm hex bolt used to hold the brake rotor in place. Please refer to the supplemental instructions sheet included in your kit.
  10. Once the yellow dot is properly aligned, place the Value Spare wheel and tire on the vehicle using the OEM lug nuts. Secure the Value Spare wheel and tire on the vehicle using the OEM lug nuts. Make sure the lug nuts are seated properly, and the wheel is evenly aligned against the hub. Snug them tight to ensure the wheel is aligned.
Once the wheel is properly seated and the lugs are snug, lower the vehicle enough for the tire to make contact with the ground, which will prevent the wheel from turning. Once in this position, properly tighten the lug nuts (approximately 100-140 ft-lbs; please check the vehicle owner’s manual to confirm exact specs).
  11. Lower vehicle using ratcheting scissor jack, place flat tire and kit contents in your vehicle.

That’s it, you’re done and on your way! Please take caution when driving on a spare. Although it is capable of operating for a long distance it is designed to be used on a temporary basis and does not have the same traction or performance capability of a full size OEM wheel & tire. TESLA VEHICLE LIFTING GUIDE:

HELPFUL TIP:
The jack is to be used by placing it parallel (length-wise) with the vehicle as shown in this diagram.
REMEMBER – ONLY RAISE VEHICLE AT PROPER JACKING LIFT POINTS
Use the below steps as a reference for lifting your vehicle. Please consult your owner’s manual for vehicle-specific instructions. Also, please ensure to thoroughly read jacking warnings on page 3 of these instructions and your owner’s manual before beginning jacking procedures.
1. If your vehicle is equipped with Smart Air Suspension, it automatically self-levels, even when power is off. Use the touchscreen to set the suspension as follows:
  1. Touch Controls > Suspension .
  2. Press the brake pedal, then touch Very High to maximize the height of the suspension.
  3. Touch Jack to disable self-leveling. When Jack mode is active, Tesla vehicles display this indicator light on the instrument panel, along with a message telling you that active suspension is disabled.
2. Position the lifting jack at the vehicle-specific lifting point closest to the tire to be changed. DO NOT position the lifting jack under the Battery.
3. Carefully raise the jack ensuring the lift point pads remain in the correct positions.
Note: Jack mode may be unexpectedly enabled in situations where an object is supporting the vehicle’s weight (for example the bumper of the vehicle is resting on a curb.
Warning: If your vehicle is equipped with Smart Air Suspension, it automatically self-levels, even when power is off. You MUST disable this system by engaging Jack mode before lifting or jacking. If you do not disable Smart Air Suspension, your vehicle can attempt to self-level, causing serious damage, bodily injury, or death.
Warning: Never raise your vehicle when the charging cable is connected, even if charging is not in progress.
Warning: Do not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle. Doing so can cause serious damage, bodily injury, or death.
Warning: Do not place yourself or any part of your body beneath the vehicle while it is being supported by a jack alone. Ensure that the vehicle is supported by appropriate jack stands prior to working beneath vehicle.
Caution: DO NOT lift from under the Battery. Place the lift arm pad under the body rails only. The locations illustrated are a guide showing general lifting points on Teslas. For complete instructions consult your owner’s manual. Lifting at any other points can cause damage. Damage caused by lifting your vehicle is not covered by Value Spare.

Our wheel is a dual PCD (bolt pattern) wheel which gives it the ability to fit multiple makes and models of vehicles. For Tesla vehicles, use the 5 lug holes that align directly with the spokes of the wheel.

*Please note that jacking points on vehicles may vary depending on your vehicle’s make and model. Please check the user’s manual if needed. Ensure to align the rubber jack pad of the scissor jack to the jacking point slot on your vehicle as shown. Failure to do so could place an uneven load on the jack resulting in jack failure.

In addition to these jack placement instructions please ensure that you use the scissor jack on level ground with the vehicle stabilized. Ensure that the vehicle is in park with the parking brake engaged prior to lifting. If at all possible, it is preferable to chock the wheels to further stabilize the vehicle prior to lifting. Use only approved jacking points as found in your owner’s manual with the scissor jack base being placed on level solid ground directly beneath the lifting point of the vehicle.

Please also check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for any vehicle-specific instructions prior to lifting. Most importantly, never place yourself or any part of your body under the vehicle while it is raised with the scissor jack. If you have any questions or are unsure about jack placement please directly contact info@valuespare.com
